Colts Division 1
The 2009 New Brighton colts team have had a great year so far. At the time of writing (mid July) the colts have won 7 of their last 10 games under the guidance of coaches Dennis Cations and Gary Cookson. The colts are a young side with most of the guys being first year out of High School. With a year of Premier Colts under their belts and most of the guys back next year it should be exciting times for the 2010 season. Adding to that the potential of some more quality school leavers joining the ranks it is fair to say the future is bright for the New Brighton Colts and the Div 1 sides.
Stand out players for the colts this year have been Captain Cam Baines, Lou Harmon, Sam Dix, Luke Crotty, Mark Nuu, Stephan Vaiola, Jeremy Borland, Matt Ball, Den Kara, Jason Sinclair, Ben McDougall, Marty Koppier, Brayden Vant Veen (now div 1). In good form lately have been Aki Salave and Oli Gilkison. Others going well are Zach Trusler, Tom, Timo, Ricky, Billy, Harry and Eidt.
Recent wins over Burnside twice, Shirley, Christchurch, Linwood and Marist Albion plus a draw with University have the guys pushing for top 4 honours. A big ups for managers Henry Koppier and Lindsay Harman.
