New Brighton has a proud history of playing exciting attacking rugby built of tradition and community with a culture of success.  We have a strong player base with a mix of experienced club players and some exciting younger players who are on a pathway for professional careers. Our Premier team is seeking applications for all three coaching positions; Head Coach, Backs and Forwards. If you are a coach passionate about rugby and developing young men then the New Brighton Rugby Football Club (NBRFC) invites your application for the positions. *We are open to individual applications and established coaching teams.
These positions, commencing in October/November 2019, will be primarily responsible for coaching the Premier team in the Premier Competition but there is also the opportunity for the Head Coach to lead development alignment across all grades. 
The successful candidates will have either proven club, High School 1st XV or representative coaching experience and NZRU or Equivalent Level 3 qualification. A desire to coach at the professional level could be beneficial. 

On and off-field skills required at the highest level include:

  • Leadership (heading our rugby programme)

  • Strategic thinking and planning (pre-season through to in season)
  • Tactical and technical coaching (for the team and individual)
  • People management (players, management staff and wider coaching group within the club)
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • High Performance player development 

This role requires a high level of passion, initiative and commitment and is a rare opportunity to enhance the development and continued success of our club.

Colts Premier Coaches
We have had a successful couple of years in the colts grade and are wanting to build off this, especially with a large playing group returning in 2020. 
We are looking for applicants in backs, forwards and Head coaching roles. We are open to individuals and or coaching team applications. 
We believe this group would be on a pathway to Premier Coaching appointments in the future and with this we will ensure you have development programmes in place to allow you to grow and thrive within the New Brighton community. Because of this vision we will be structuring our season so Premier and Colts Premier work closely together from a planning perspective but also for trainings. The ideal candidates for the Colts Premier Coaching team will have a strong desire to progress into a Premier Coaching role in 1 - 2 years. 



Premier Reserve 

 

Our premier side requires two coaches that have a real passion for fostering a positive and inclusive environment that assists players in their development to earn Premier selections. At the same time providing a fantastic environment for the players that want to enjoy their rugby at Premier Reserve level.

 

The ideal candidates will be focused on the objectives and desires of the players and will provide that outstanding environment mentioned above. Along with our Colts Premier Coaches, we see the Premier Reserve coaches as potential candidates for the Premier roles in the future. Because of this vision we will be structuring our season so our Premier and Premier Reserves teams work closely together. This is to ensure players have familiarity with the Premier environment but also for the coaches development. 

 

Colts Reserve Coaches
We have a strong playing group with a tight culture that are wanting to be challenged and progressed as rugby players while having a fun and a strong social environment off the field.

 

We are looking for applicants in backs, forwards and Head coaching roles. We are open to individuals and or coaching team applications. 

 

We believe this group would be on a pathway to work through the grades with the players after building strong relationships.  Most of the current playing group are in their last year of Colts and are wanting to enjoy their last season in age group while striving to achieve at the highest level they can. The ideal candidates for the Colts Reserve Coaching team will have a proven history in delivering a quality experience for young men. 

 

Senior (div3)

 Our senior side requires two coaches to work with our senior side who have a strong success record over the 2018 and 2019 seasons. This side trains one day a week and is largely made up of ex Div 1 and 2 players from the past 10 years with some younger players too.

Coaching at New Brighton is an extremely valued role and we want to support you to become the most effective coach you can be. Our aim is to develop your coaching skills that will enable you to thrive in your team environments thus taking New Brighton players and the club to a new level. All coaches will be supported by the RDO with a coach development programme, this development programme will be coach specific to ensure you as an individual grow your strengths and work ons.

CLUB Strength and Conditioning Coach.
New Brighton has had a shift in the previous two seasons in employing a strength and conditioning coach to provide specialist training procedures to training and to work with players in the gym to build their strength and conditioning base.  The trainer will work closely with the Premiers, Colts Premiers and our Academy providing a professional approach to our training methodology. We are seeking a qualified and passionate trainer to join our club for the 2020 season. If you are a trainer passionate about rugby and developing young men then the New Brighton Rugby Football Club (NBRFC) invites your application.
This positions, commencing in November 2019, will be primarily responsible for driving the club wide pre-season programme along with monitoring and developing our Academy players. This position is associated with the Premier side but will provide support to our Colts Premiers. This position also provides support to Shirley Boys’ High 1st XV. 
Pre-Season commitment - 3 Gym Sessions and one offsite conditioning. 
In-Season commitment - 2 Gym Blocks (Mon/Wed), Two Field Sessions (Tues/Thurs) and Game Day (Sat).
The successful candidates will have either proven club, High School 1st XV or representative coaching experience. And will have qualifications in either the sport science, personal training and or strength and conditioning.

On and off-field skills required at the highest level include:

  • Strong understanding of training methodology 

  • Continued development in current research 
  • Strategic thinking and planning
  • Understanding of rugby and basic skill acquisition 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High Performance player development approach

This role does have a remuneration package dependant on experience.
