High Performance Unit

 

We believe in supporting aspiring players to maximising their potential on and off the field — by having a purpose built programme focused on you. Our outcomes are directed at developing your technical, tactical, mental, physical knowledge and performance which is supported through outstanding coaching resources. This programme will introduce you to professional habits around preparation, performance and review that will enable you to reach your potential. We do this with a professional high performance programme starting in November and ending in August.

Structure of the programme...

Tier 1 - Full support with 100% commitment to the programme (Weekly Performance Reviews, Full S&C programme, Skills training, Position Specific support, Nutritional support, Mental skills support)
Tier 2 - 100% Commitment to all Gym/Recovery/Skills sessions (Monthly Performance Reviews, Full S&C programme, Skills training, Position Specific support, Nutritional support, Mental skills support)
Tier 3 - 100% Commitment to S&C and Skills training (Full S&C programme, Skills training)
Tier 4 - Choose to have 100% Commitment to S&C or Skills training (Full S&C programme, Skills training)

Players will be considered upon their initial interest in the different tiers. During the year players may move up and down the tier system depending on commitment levels and protocols set by the players and management.

Andy Gibson - Coach
Andy is also the clubs Rugby Development Officer and will head the academy. Andy is currently the Christchurch Boys’ High School 1st XV Head Coach, Canterbury B Defence Coach and the Junior Knights Backs/Attack Coach. Andy has previously been involved with the Canterbury U19’s as the backs and team attack coach as well as Crusader Knights.

Strength and Conditioning Coach - Mark Drury who has previously worked for Canterbury, Crusaders and Scotland. 

Resource coaches will be brought in from the New Brighton Ex player community, CRFU and NZRU to give expertise in position specific areas.

There is a $50 cost to being apart of the NBHPU for kit and resources.
